As the name states, Alchemist leans heavily into the idea of Alchemy, chemistry and a mystery. The dark wood tables, paired geometric posters give the feeling that you are about to consume a powerful potion. The Alchemist branding is also expressed within their freshly roasted beans. They do not refer to their beans as light or dark but as elements, gold, sliver, and copper. At first glance, there seems to be no connection between the beans and the brand. After looking up the definition of alchemy, “ancient tradition to purify materials, cure diseases, extend life, and turn base metals into gold. The naming convention of beans becomes clear, as if my confusion was .. cured. There “gold” standard bean is called as you might assume … gold . This bean is a medium to dark roast that is blended from Guatemala, Mexico and Brazil. The tasting notes are a soft fruit, like a green apple, finished with a smooth bakers chocolate and cinnamon. There is a slight linger of bitterness, but not unpleasant.
